60,000 Words

I’m in the final stretch of refining the Next Path Design AI Pathfinder Foundations course for a November launch, and I ran some numbers. The course clocks in at around 60,000 words, including the transcripts for all the videos. I knew it was a big project, but I hadn’t realized that I’d essentially written a 200+ page book from start to finish in six months.

I asked my AI “collaborators” (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot) to estimate a learner’s time to complete the course based on the content. Their consensus: 6–8 hours of learner time.

Then, I compared that to my own development time. If I ballpark my creation pace at about 20 hours per week for six months (roughly 520 hours), that means I’ve invested about 65–90 hours of design time for every hour of learner experience. That feels about right, though it’s impossible to fully separate my learning curve from the design process.

Either way, it’s been a significant, challenging, and incredibly rewarding project, and I don’t regret a single minute of it. I can’t wait to share it with you soon.

More to come as we approach the November launch. Until then, I will continue to show my work.
